Rarity Scale – Mega Rare

Here we have a lovely UK 1st pressing copy of the debut album by Nick Drake, called “Five Leaves Left” with a original UK import hype sticker.
The disc of this copy is in EX to EX+ condition. The disc plays without major issues like heavy clicks, pops and skips. There is some minor crackle here and there but non of them overpowers the music. Visual the disc looks EX+ to M- with no major scratches and hairlines. There are some very small imperfections on the vinyl but non of them are audible.
Also the labels looks lovely without spindle traces. This prooves this disc haven’t seen many record players. We did a full playback (off course with the greatest care on a perfectly adjusted record player) and the disc play really nice!
The sleeve is in EX- to EX condtion. The cover shows minor storage and age wear. It is fully intact without writing, tears, major stains and creases. The sleeve is an unlaminated very fragile gatefold sleeve.
The front shows some wear near the edges. The hype sticker (IMPORT england) is fully intact. It only shows some age wear. The spine is intact and readable. Near the letters of Drake on the spine there is very tiny spot of wear.
The opening is really nice and shows only minor wear due to storage.
The back of the sleeve is really nice. The bottom left shows a minor crease and there is a very tiny damage due to storage on the opening. There is no ring wear.
The inside of the gatefold looks lovely with only minor wear near the edges. There is no ring wear.
This copy comes with the correct original inner sleeve in VG+ condition.

About this record.

Nick Drake (Nicholas Rodney Drake) can be considered is one of the best UK folk singer/songwriters! The man created 3 trully beautiful albums in the period from 1969 till 1972. We think most people kniow Nick Drake and his work.
Nick Drake was born on June 19th 1948 in Rangoon, Burma
Unfortunately Nick Drake died in 1974 (Tanworth-in-Arden, England) at the age of 26. The cause of death was an overdose of anti-depressant medication.

In 1969 Nick Drake released his first album “Five Leaves Left” on the legendary “Island” label which released some classic albums like “King Crimson – In The coart of Crimson King” and “Jethro Tull – Stand Up” in the same year.
Back in the days the debut by Nick didn’t do much which is off course a huge shame. Nowadays many of us say this album is a masterpiece, which it is!!
The songs on the album are examples of classic British folk singer/songwriter music. The songs are beautiful arranged, the vocals are lovely and the musicianship outstanding. We think every serious record collector with interest in the British music scene from the late 60’s and early 70’s should own a copy!
After this debut album, Nick released 2 other albums called “Bryter Layter” from 1971 and “Pink Moon” from 1972. Both albums were also released on “Island Records”.
