Rarity Scale – Mega Rare
Here we have an original copy of the debut album by “The Deviants” called “Ptooff”. First released in 1968 on the “Underground Impresarios” independent record label.
The disc of this copy is in EX- to EX condition. There is some slight crackle here and there and some more at the beginning and run-out of both sides. The music plays loud without major defects like heavy clicks and pops. There are no skips.
We must admit this is not the world best pressing. The surface of the disc looks lovely with only a few very small hairlines which are inaudible. Both labels are really nice but has a stamp on both sides. There are only one or two small spindle traces which shows this album hasn’t seen many record players in all those years.
The unlaminated 6 panel fold-out cover is extremely fragile. Most copies are very worn. This copy survived very well.
Overall we grade the sleeve in EX to EX+ condition. It is fully intact. There are no tears, major creases and stains. The cover edges and corner shows some minor storage wear and age wear. The fragile spine is fully intact and also all the folding edges are intact. The sleeve shows on the front and back a tiny stamp. Nothing really serious but it’s there.
The inside of the cover has the blue printed comic picture which is in lovely condition.
Please take a very good look at the photos to get a good impression!

A large selection of rare vinyl records from the golden era.
Many record collectors with an focus on the UK psych scene from the late 60’s know “The Deviants”. The group released 3 great albums during the Golden Era.
The band was formed in the 60’s in Ladbroke Grove, London by Mick Farren. The group began as “The Social Deviants” later reduced to “The Deviants”.
“Ptooff!” was the debut album by the group and was first released in 1968 on the “Underground Impresarios” independent record label. The album was only available for a very short period of time. A year later the album was re-released on the “Decca” label and came in a ‘normal’ single sleeve cover.
This 1st issue with the beautiful poster sleeve and full lovely artwork done by “Kipps” (Peter Broxton) is by far the most collectable issue of this album and became mega rare to find in nice intact condition.
The back of the sleeve was printed in 2 different variations. Brown and Blue printing. The copy up for sale is the blue printed variant.
The music on the album is great. Typical UK psych from the late 60’s! A lovely time piece!
