Rarity Scale – Hyper Rare
This is a true holy grail and almost never pops up. In all our years of collecting we have seen this album only ones before. For a major label issue this is probably one of the rarest albums from the Golden Era! A dream copy and maybe a once in a life time opportunity
Besides it’s hyper rare, this very copy is maybe the best copy on the globe!!! The vinyl is absolutely perfect! The fully laminated single fragile sleeve shows us what mint- means! For a 51 year old record this is unbelievable. No writing, no tears, no creases and no fainting colour due to UV. This copy is stored perfectly the last 51 years. The vinyl itself plays immaculate with only the slightest background at the very beginning and ending (pressing). Also the labels are perfect without spindle traces. The Fontana labels are very fragile due to the used type of paper and colours.
The sleeve is in a lovely Near Mint to Mint- condition. This sleeve is by far the best we have ever seen when it comes to Wil Malone but also when it comes to all the records that has gone through our hands during the years. Simply unbelievable. The front and back of the fully laminated are like new. No creases, stains and other major issues. It has a very minuscule corner bumb on the bottom left which is probably there from the very beginning.
The spine is in perfect order. Also the opening is like new. What a sleeve!
This album comes with it’s original inner sleeve also in Near Mint condition, so it’s fully complete!!

A large selection of rare vinyl records from the golden era.
Wil Malone is a well known person in our world of rare vinyl collectors! He has been working as a producer on a lot of famous tracks from several artists over the years. Back in the Golden Era he made a wonderfull psych album together with Mike Bobak and Andy Williams, called “Motherlight” on the “Blue Morgan Town” label. This album is also extremely rare and hard to find and therefore expensive.
Wil Malone on Fontana is the only solo record Wil Malone made. Rumours go there were only 200 copies of this album sold and was only available for a very short period of time (2 months). So back in the days the record was totally missed by the public. I real bummer if you ask us.
Normally we think from every UK major label release, there were pressed at least 2000 to 3000 copies. So what happened to the other 1400 to 2400 copies? We have no idea. Maybe they are somewhere in a box in a dusty basement;). The only thing we know is that this record is extremely rare and a must have for the serious record collector.
The music consists some very well arranged pop/psych songs. All written, arranged and produced by Malone himself. It is all typical English. It reminds us a bit too “Donovan”. The lyrics are very odd.
The artwork of the sleeve really jumps out and for us this the ultimate embodiment of a psych record cover. The master “Marcus Keef” did the artwork!!
Long story short, this record is one of the rarest major label issues of the Golden Era and much wanted by record collectors all over the world. Off course we are not sure but maybe this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get such a rare record in this perfect condition. Besides it is a lovely timepiece this record is also a very good investment.
