Here we have a lovely copy of the debut album by the obscure psych/prog act from the UK called “Raw Material” What an album!!!
The disc of this album was pressed by “Orlake”. Responsible for many rare UK pressings of great albums! Orlake pressings are highly collectable. Overall we grade this disc EX+. The vinyl is really thick and feels like a quality pressing. The recording and mix of this album is really good! The music on the album plays loud and clear. Simply amazing! The disc has some background crackle which is common for this album. We’ve had several copies and all of them had some background. Therefore we think this is caused by the pressing. The surface of the vinyl is shiny with only a very few lines which doesn’t cause defects like major pops, clicks, skips and other nasty issues.
Long story short. It is a lovely disc. The music plays loud and clear but it has some pressing background which is more common.
The sleeve of this very copy is EX+ to NM. It is much better compared to other copies we have seen and had in our hands. The very fragile front laminated flipback sleeve shows no writing, no major creases and stains.
The front of the sleeve is really nice. The laminate is intact and shiny. The bottom left corner shows a minor crease. Around the edges there are few tiny creases. Overall nothing serious. The spine is intact and almost fully readable. Only the ‘W’ from the word “Raw Material has a very small defect. Further the spine is perfect. The opening is nice and sharp with only very minimal age wear.
The flips on the back are nice with only some minor wear. Further the unlaminated back is near perfect. Lovely!
This copy comes with an original plain white inner sleeve. Probably the correct original one.

About this record.
What an album!! We can’t understand this album was soooo obscure and under the radar back in the days. We find this album one of the very finest debut albums made by a psych/prog band from the UK during The Golden Era.
This album was released on the “Evolution” label which we distributed by “RCA Records”. The album was pressed by “Orlake” which resulted in a thick quality pressing. The recording and the mix of this album is beyond great!! It is soooo good!
The album contains 7 tracks. All written and composed by the band.
The music on the album is psychedelic rock with some progressive elements. Their second album “Time Is” is much more progressive compared to their debut. The musicianship on this album is outstanding!!
“Raw Material” is British psych/rock act from London and formed in London in 1969. The band lived for 3 years. They released 2 studio albums. Sometimes their music is compared to “King Crimson” and “Van Der Graaf Generator” due to their complex structure of their progressive sound.
The band had only minor success in the UK and a bit more in Continental Europe. We strongly believe this band deserved a lot more attention.
