We have managed to find a lovely copy of Mellow Candle on the legendary “Deram” label. A UK Folk Rock holy grail! This copy contains an original advert for the album from “Melody Maker” magazine!
The disc of this copy is in NM condition. It sounds just like new! There is some very slight crackle at the very beginning and run-out of both sides and between the tracks (pressing) but the music is loud and clear!! We wish every record had this quality sound! The recording of this album is really good which makes this album a joy to listen!! The vinyl still shows its full sheen on both sides with a very few super tiny hairlines which are not audible. Also the labels are super clean with just 2 spindle traces on side 1 and 3 spindle traces on side 2. This prooves this record hasn’t seen many record players.
The sleeve is in EX condition. The black and white unlaminated super fragile gatefold sleeve shows some aging. The white parts of the sleeve has some minimal browning. Further the front of the cover is lovely and fully intact. It has a few minor creases but nothing serious. There is no writing.
The spine is near perfect and fully readable. The opening is OK with only some minor wear. The back of the sleeve has a small stain and shows some minimal ring wear in the black parts of the sleeve.
The lovely Melody Maker insert is in EX+ condition.
This copy comes with the original Decca/Deram polylined inner sleeve.

“Mellow Candle – Swaddling Songs” is a legendary album in the scene of rare record collection. Together with “Megaton”, “Mellow Candle” is considered the rarest album from the Deram catalogue from The Golden Era.
An original copy of this grail almost never shows up. A copy with the Melody Maker advert is unique!! Maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Mellow Candle” is a UK acid/folk/rock group. The group had 5 members which were all very young. Both vocalists were women, both with an amazing voice!! The vocals on this album are really good! Besides Clodach Simonds and Alison Williams, the band had three other members, knowing David Williams (electric and acoustic guitar, vocals), Frank Boylan (Bass, vocals) and William Murray (percussion).
Swaddling Songs was released in 1972 and sold in very little numbers. The album was completely missed by the public and almost immediately disappeared into obscurity. Nowadays the album get the attention it deserve by Folk Rock lovers around the globe but became super rare and therefore original copies are valuable.
