Rarity Scale – Mega Rare
Pholas Dactylus – Concerto Delle Menti is a not to be missed Italian progressive rock album from The Golden Era. The album was released in 1973 on the highly collectable “Magma” label which has one the most beautiful label designs from The Golden Era!
The disc of this copy is hard to grade. The disc looks a bit more worse than it actually plays. The disc has some hairlines and looks a bit used. But don’t let yourself tricked by the looks. Most parts of the disc plays NM! The pressing quality of this album is really good!! It plays with some minor background here and there but the music is absolutely loud and clear!! Really nice! There is some crackle here and there but we do not find it irritating during testing this disc.
The labels looks really good and are both intact! It shows some spindle traces but that’s it. Overall we grade the disc VG+ to EX-. This is a very concervative grading but we want to be on the safe side.
The unlaminated gatefold sleeve looks OK. It has some common storage wear. The edges and corners have some minor wear and there is some ring wear on the back side of the cover. The used colours in combination with the absence of lamination makes ring wear on this cover very common.
The spine is intact and fully readable. The opening looks OK with only some minor wear. The inside of the gatefold looks lovely! Overall we grade the sleeve VG+ to be on the safe side!
This copy comes with the original printed inner sleeve which is fully intact and in EX condition!!

“Pholas Dactylus” is an Italian progressive/experimental from Italy. The band was formed near Milan in Italy somewhere in 1972. The band released only one album in 1972 which went into obscurity very soon after its release despite the fact the album received some good reviews by music magazines.
The band split in 1973 due to health and financial problems. Really a shame when you ask us.
The band managed to release their album on the legendary Italian “Magma” label from Genova. Magma was also responsible for releasing one of the best albums from the Italian prog scene from the early 70’s, called “Alphataurus”.
“Pholas Dactylus” made some fame because they supported “Amon Düül II” during some festivals in 1972. The live act of Pholas Dactylus was really good!!
