Rarity Scale: Hyper Rare

A hyper rare test pressing of the free jazz album “Discussions”. This literally never pops up but we have found a copy!!
The vinyl is in lovely EX+ to NM shape. We very carefully play graded it and we haven’t heard any issues. Some very slight background here and there but it never overpowers the music. Overall we grade the vinyl EX+ to NM. The paper white sleeve is in a good EX condition. The writing was done back in the days to name the copy. Overall we must say the fragile white thin cardboard sleeve survived really good!
This package is a must have for the true jazz collector. Maybe even a holy grail.

About this record.

This record was released in 1968 on the collectable “Opportunity” label. This copy is a so called pre-opportunity test pressing and was made before the release.  It was purposed to release on the “Dove” label but that never happened.

The album was recorded on the 29th of December 1967 in London. There are four test pressings in the world. This is one of them. The test pressings were made by Chris Wellard. He was the owner of “Opportunity Records” which was based in his record shop “New Cross” in South London. It was meant to release this album on his own label “Dove” but before the release he swapped to the label name “Opportunity”.

This record is a true gem for the free jazz collector. A test pressing of this record literally never shows up and because there are only four known copies on the globe this must be one of the rarest record in the genre.
