Here we have a very nice original UK 1st press copy of the final Gravy Train album, called “Staircase To The Day”. Released in 1974 on the mighty Dawn label.
The disc is in stunning EX+ condition. The playback of the disc is lovely with only some very minor crackle at the very beginning and run-out of both sides (pressing). The vinyl surface looks amazing. Almost like new. Only a very few super tiny hairlines which are all inaudible. Further both labels are super nice with only a few spindle traces at both sides.
The sleeve is in EX condition. Overall the unlaminated gatefold sleeve looks really good and it is fully intact.
The front of the sleeve shows some discolouring. The same story goes for the spine. The back and inside are lovely. The spine is fully readable and the opening is nice.
This copy comes with the correct original inner sleeve.
Please take a very good look at the photos to get a good impression!

A large selection of rare vinyl records from the golden era.
Most collectors of progressive rock from The Golden Era knows “Gravy Train”. The four member band from vocalist Norman Barratt released 4 very good progressive rock albums.
The first two album were released on the mighty “Vertigo Swirl” label. The final two were released on the “Dawn” label which was part of “PYE”.
The Gravy Train debut and second album “(A Ballad Of) A Peaceful Man are mostly mentioned as their best album. But their third and final album are two progressive rock album which can not be skipped. They are simply really good!
“Staircase To The Day” was the final album and was released in 1974. The beautiful artwork is off course made by the great “Roger Dean”.
The music on the album is typical UK progressive rock with great vocals. Great musicianship on this one! The tiltle track is the best track of the album IMHO.
