Rarity Scale: Mega Rare
A great heavy psych rock gem on the highly demanded Deram Nova label.
This is the much rarer mono pressing of the legendary Aardvark album. The disc plays almost ever near mint but there is some background here and there between songs, in the more quiet parts and at the very beginning and run-out (pressing). The labels are clean but have some spindle traces. The vinyl has some lines but all nothing serious and they definitely not affecting the audio. Overall we grade the disc a good EX.
The sleeve is not the best one around. Overall we grade it VG. The front laminated single sleeve has some lamination lift near the spine. The opening of the sleeve is a bit rough but there are no tears. The spine is intact and fully readable. The unlaminated back is not perfect. It has a minor tear on the top right corner and the back is discoloured. There is also some minor ring wear. So there are some defaults, but overall the sleeve is intact. There is no writing, no tears and no major creases.
This copy comes in with its original correct mono inner sleeve. Overall this is not a perfect copy but it is the much rare mono pressing of this gem.

Aardvark is a so called one album band and was given the opportunity to release an album on the Deram Nova label. This labels was created to give small new talent back in 1969/1970 the opportunity to gain some fame. Most bands on the label flopped completely. Only Egg and a few others managed to release some more stuff. After the release of the Aardvark album the band folded and disappeared in obscurity.
“Aardvark” is a beautiful prog/psych masterpiece with amazing songs! The musicianship is great! There are no guitars on this album. Only bass guitar, organ, piano, percussion, celeste, vibes, marimba and recorders like the sleeve informs;). The album is a true rollercoaster of amazing heavy psych tunes.
The artwork on the sleeve is amazing. David Wedgbury did the photography of the back and front. The design and modell was made by David Antsty who made more well known sleeve designs like “Walrus” on Deram, “Black Cat Bones” on Deram Nova and many more.
In 2016, Steve Milliner and Dave Skillin from the original line-up released new work called “Aardvark 2: Guiter’d ‘N’ Feathered!
